7 FOODS TO AVOID IF YOU'VE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH DIABETES

If you have just been diagnosed as a Diabetic, you might want to stay clear of foods that can spike your blood sugar levels or increase your risk of complications. Although you can manage to choose what to eat, we at lowermyA1C.com recommends that you stay away from this list of seven different common foods. Here is a list of dangerous foods for Diabetics:

· Candies: Not only do high sugar foods like candy, cookies, syrup and soda lack nutritional value, these low quality carbohydrates can cause dramatic spikes in blood sugar levels and can contribute to weight gain, both of which can contribute to diabetes complications.

· Raisins: Eating raisins or other dried fruits may be a better option than snacking on cookies, but it will still spike your blood sugar. During the dehydration process of fruits, the natural sugars become concentrated causing an unhealthy elevation of blood sugar when rapidly absorb by the body.

· Pancakes and Syrup: This is a total card explosion and considered one of the worst breakfast choices for someone with diabetes. The white flour on those big pancakes are like white bread and of course the toppings makes it worse on top of the butter and those gooey syrup, a starch-and-sugar overload will send your blood sugars levels upwards.

· Bacon: In addition to the dairy whole fat foods , fatty or marbled cuts of meat can carry a hefty amount of saturated fat that can initiate an inflammation of the body and will raise the cholesterol levels.

· Fruit Juice: You would think whole fruits are healthy which is true, but for fruit juice it’s a different story. They may offer a more nutritional benefit than soda and other sugary drinks, but fruit juices – even the 100% fruit juices are chock full of fruit sugars and therefore can spike up your blood sugar levels.

· French Fries: This overdoing it on greasy, fried foods can lead to weight gains and wreck some havoc on your blood sugar. French Fries, Potato Chips and Doughnuts are particularly bad choices, because they are made off carb-heavy, starchy ingredients which can cause blood glucose levels to shoot up together with all those calories.

· White Bread: These are refined – starches- white bread, white rice, white pasta and anything made with white flour- will act a lot like sugar once the body starts to digest them. So you will have to stay away from refined starches because they do tend to interfere with glucose control and should be avoided when are a diabetic.

· Snack Cake and Pastries: It is a common knowledge that packaged snacks and and Baked Goods are always loaded with sugar, sodium, junky white flour, trans fat and of course preservatives. This dangerous combo of sugar and refined flour can easily spike blood sugar and promotes inflammation that interferes with the insulin’s ability to function properly.

· Whole Milk: Keep the “ whole milk” out of the fridge, and pick up 1% low fat skimmed milk instead. Dairy products contain saturated fats that have rack up a laundry list of negative side effects including raising the “bad” (LDL) cholesterol that promotes inflammation throughout the body.
